Really sympathyse with your situation and the loss of your horse. Don't know the circumstances but any responsible trail rider should always stop if horse coming, or pass wide and very slowly and quietly if overtaking.

A surprising number of my local group have partners with horse's so know the situation.

Gotta say one real downside of termi's on Ducati's is the possibility of scaring horses on the road.
