Your bl00dy right Ian about the thread, although the load is limited until I put my entire weight on the rear sets (stand on them) it could be enough to knacker the thread, and then iam stuffed.

Prolonged pressure on the bolts would cause fatigue over time and the only way is to remove and measure etc.. Until I have enough pocket money saved iam going to sit it out.

For now they save my family jewels when going over bumps in the road and heavy braking. I understand the consequences should the bolts snap off whilst riding the bike and I know it wouldn’t be pretty.

Saying all this yours are the only other rear sets i like but at £400 there a little way off for now, i am a bit dry with the purchase of the bikethe insurance, the cans and the other bits and bobs go on it already. the rear sets was a quick fix.

I cannot see the bolts snapping and if they are tight enough they 'should' not move on the threads anyway so if you are happy with them just leave them, save you some cash too.

That's the difference...some people like to look and polish, some people like to actually make them how they want them and use the things Can't see it when you're thrashing the big, red git, trying your best just to keep up with the speed of it!

It's lovely, enjoy

Had a day off work yesterday, the sun shone so I took a 1198 for a test ride at Parkinsons.
Great bike, bags of power as everyone knows. Thought the riding position was good, more up right then I expected. Surprised the engine wasn't smoother then it is.
