Been having a play with my gearing calculator and to get the Close Ratio Box to have the same overall ratio for first gear as the standard bike with its standard box and 15/36 final drive, I need to fit a 14/42 final drive combination. This in turn takes in the region of 44mph off the bikes top speed, where top gear becomes 14.5mph/1000rpm compared to the standard 998Rs 18mph/1000rpm.

Rode the bike over to H-Cafe (Fox's) yesterday evening and it was starting and idling quite well on the 998RS ECU so we are slowly getting there.

Need to get around to sorting the speedo pick-up ring for the Magneti Marelli dash as well as the idiot lights, not that I will ever see a neutral light unless I replace the Corse Shift drum.

Its currently pouring with rain and they are predicting 9mm to 12mm of rain for this evening, so I think I'll spend this evening in the garage swapping the 4-post Bucci clutch for a 6-post FBF ball and ramp clutch as Its still a nightmare to pull away on the 998R with 15/42 gearing.

I have swapped back to a standard slave and that if anything has made things worse, its attached to a Brembo Billet radial clutch lever which is exactly the same setup as on my 998Hybrid and that works fine.

The Bucci is now down to only one pair of dished plates after removing the other pair, but it still feels like the clutch only wants to be either disengaged completely or engaged, so trying to let the clutch out progressively isn't easy and I'm in danger of doing impression of Andy Sheppard on the start line at Cadwell or should that be Chris Butcher (or was he the victim in 2005)
