Some early ones did leave the factory with them. A few even with the sand cast SPS engine cases. Cases are an easy spot, only way to tell with the rods is to take a cylinder off and have a look see.
Parts list says defo steel rods and production cast cases though. Early ones appear to be a bit of a parts bin raid on the SPS shelves
