Where did you get that info from Alan
As far as I know a 900SS shock is the same length as that of the 600SS, unlike a 750SSie and 900SSie shocks which are 5mm longer

You mention you have now removed the ride height adjusting rod, cleaned it, greased it and refitted it.
Did you bother to lengthen it at the same time ?
