Does not need batteries Couchy, just press the right hand button (I think) and it will come on with the bike running.

A few more notes

The race dash didn't need a new battery it just needed turning on with the on button
The bike also has 999 radial master cylinders, I've tensioned belts today and fired her up so she is ready to go.
