Yes
As the Clocks decode the transponder in the Key and then send a signal to the ECU, replacing the dash with a after market unit would immobilise the bike
There are ways around this such as having the ECU reprogrammed so that it doesn't look for a code, not sure how much they charge for this service. i'm sure Mark at BSD could give you a quote.

Replacing the complete set isn't cheap, think there are some clocks, ECU and Keys on ebay for around £500
Be better if you can get yours repaired
