Still wondering how Cleggy managed a 1m 49 and a bit lap record

TBh I can see why. If my bike handled better I would have beaten that. On the lap that was stopped, I was ahead of my 1'50 dead. Reason I'm so sure is I was hitting gears earlier thru charlies 1 and was flat out sooner on park straight so certainly faster...alas chassis couldn't cope with extra speed thru bottom mountain hence it chucked me up then onto the grass just as the red flag came out

if I'd have had Phils, Kevs, alans or Hughs straight line speed I would have done it. And I dont think the new tyres are that much better than the old diablos...especially as my tyres were so worn by then

edited to add I'm not trying to sound flash, arrogant or ain't I great!! Just seemed to gel with Cadwell after all these years of trackdays!! Think I'll move there

Yet in the same race as Cleggys record Class A winner and setter of the fastest lap Otie only managed a lap of 1m 47s just over 3 seconds down on what Neil and Andy were doing this year.
I find it hard to believe the tyres aren't a factor

sure they are to some extent, but if they were why haven't more records gone this year? Maybe they have more benefit at circuits with lots of high speed corners??

I make it 4 class A lap records gone out of a possible 6 (So 66%), the ones not broken were Brands which was a new Lap Record last year and Castle Combe which was as near as possible equalled dispite the track being bumpier than ever

And its not just one rider putting in the times

Well, I took Sam West's Anglesey record, and Hugh took Dallas' Pembrey record this year. I doubt either were easy records. I know I have also been within half a second of quite a few of the records without taking any real risks (Cadwell included, only the second time I have been there).... If I were crazy like Neil, had another 5bhp, or was 10kg lighter, I might have had a few more.... But I don't see the point in pushing more than I have to.
