when my monster bounced at anglesey,castle doom,anglesey,mallory etc etc the grab rails did take a bit of the hit,i.e they protect the seat /seat unit if she decides to slide.unfortunately it still hurts !!,but i think that what you save in weight is negligable compared to a knackered seat unit .
