Time to change?
I have enjoyed the ups and downs of Ducati ownership for the past 4 or 5 years but have a hankering to get back into a quick car. Looking at Mitsubishi Evo 6/7/8
I would love to just go and buy one and keep the Ducati 998 but I can't really see the Finances stretching to it, don't really wanna get into the finance thing again either, I know what it is like to be in debt after putting every penny and more into motorsport many years ago.
Has anyone on here driven an Evo 6/7/8 on road or track.
A mate of mine has driven the Evo 7 and Evo 8. He liked them, but not as much as he liked the equivalent Subarus. He now has a limited Edition Impreza WR1.
Commonly held belief is that the Evos are better handling, but have a ridiculous service interval (4,500m). The Subaru is a better everyday car with 10,000m service intervals. I'd take both out for a test drive and decide which you like best.
No question the Evo is the better car. I have had an E4, 2 E5s, an E6, and 2 E7s and one Impreza Sti. Sounds flash...sorry ...I'm in the motor trade & we used to import them and you won't find a better road car than an Evo.
The Impreza is easier to find & is a slightly more intuitive car to drive from day1 but once you get to grips with the Evo its better.... not unlike comparing a blade to a 99*.
The Evo to buy is the GSR, which will be better spec'd & have AYC. This needs a fluids change every 4500 miles & costs about £90 at a main dealer. The clutches are rubbish & need care and you must NEVER rest your foot on the brakes at junctions ..... instant brake judder follows. Despite all that, it is absolutely the best fun you can have in a car.... and remember Impreza STis are prone to losing the rear cylinder.
I've got an Evo6 at the moment(after many years of Cosworth sierra/sapphire ownership),i think it's an excellent piece of kit! I work in the motor trade,modifing performance cars.Having driven loads of standard & modified scooby's & Evo's i decided that the Lancer is a much better car,both performance & build quality!! They hold their value much better than scooby's too!MartinK's right through,they do require more service work & at more frequent intervals!! But that's not a major problem!

No its not my bike in MCN. IF I was gonna sell it and its a big IF at the moment I would put it on here first.
One of the things I would really miss about owning a Duc would be the DSC side of things, the meets, track days etc. One of my most memorable bike trips was 3000 miles in 9 days with the DSC in 2002 to WDW/Misano WSB. Might not want to reapeat everything that happened but it was a not to be missed trip looking back! Have thought about a less expensive Duc but only an S4R appeals or maybe a 748r

Been looking at RS2 & RSX models, no troublesome AYC to put up with and you still get leccy windows and AC.
The need to sort out the house after 20 years of rarely lifting a paintbrush is likely to swallow up some cash!!

I'd better be careful what I say about Scoobies after saying the old model was ugly before I realised Joker had one!!
Yep they do look nice but the Mitsis go a little better.
The other thing is that fun doesn't stop in Shite weather with a car, in fact it probably gets better.
Might be tempting fate but I never bust a bone in 14 years of rallying, despite some good crashes. Got a 996 bip and in two months bust me colar bone, entirely my own stoopid fault.
