I've just fitted a quick action throttle I bought from:

www.extremebykesportz.co.uk

It works very well - feeling much more direct and reducing the required rotation from over 90 degrees to around 65 degrees (sorry to be vague, but I've nothing to measure this with).

The new throttle comes with two cables, but I managed to fit it retaining the original Ducati items - saving the chore of splitting the airbox. This required making two small collars to locate and hold the original cable ends in the new housing. I may fit the new cables at a later date.

The new throttle also comes with a choice of three cams; approximately 47mm, 53mm & 61mm in diameter. I guessed and fitted the 53mm cam to reduce rotation down to 65 degrees. For reference I measured the stock Ducati cam at 45mm.

As the new throttle is a non-Ducati item it did require a few minor modifications to get it to fit properly; eg filing about 0.5mm off the mating faces of the housing so it clamped securely on the Ducati handle bar. All in all, it took about 3 hours to fit and sort.

The throttle cost £150 inc VAT plus £8 delivery.

Examining the now redundant Ducati throttle showed my earlier attempts to reduce the play in the cables had merely resulted in stretching the locating holes in the original (soft plastic) cam.

I'll try to take some pics and post them this weekend.

Meanwhile, if you want to see the quick action throttle itself, go to the extremebykes website and look under accessories.

wait a while though, i know pro twins do the single cable jobbie, dont know how much though.

Ive got jhp on the case, dont know how much though.

The corse item is going to be £200 ish.

The one reapers done is £158 + fitting it for the non mechanicals.

I think there is quite a bit of money to play with there re the jhp option.

But, by all means lets start a list to offer up for discount to whoever.

Andy mate. Keep us posted on this one..........let us know what you end up doing.

You must be keeping that R pinned if you're finding the throttle rotation a problem.

Must come from wringing the life out of the firm's Pan-Europeans
