Self service

Anyone do their own servicing on the SSie bikes?

I don't really need to pay someone to tighten the chain and change the oil etc, but there are a few areas I'm not sure about - like -

are there things that are difficult to do youself, the fuel injection settings etc?

do you need any special tools?

Hey Steve,

I manage to do most of the usual service stuff myself, the only thing i leave to a trusty mechanic is the belts, as to the fuel inj settings thats getting done at my local dyno centre, so they can set up my power commander. :-)

p.s. got some nice, s/s scorpion cans for sale, for the 900ssie. ;-)

Steve

looks like time to get a manual and get my hands dirty!

If I get stuck I'll just pester my *mate, he's a bit of a whizz with engine management type thingywotzits. ( *you know who you are, and can usually be bought for a Big Mac and a doughnut)

Thanks Tont

You should be able to tackle most of the service yourself, but to sort the fuel injection properly, you'll need a CO meter and either a Mathesis or similar to adjust the fuelling.
The 1.5M ECU doesn't have a mechanical trimmer like the 748/9*6, but instead is a software trim.
You may be able to pull the cylinders in line with the air bleeds if your lucky though.

If only!!!

Think I would go for the Ducati Manual rather than Haynes.
