I was told me the pin for the 1199 was the same size as the 1098/1198 at 40mm diameter

It is! Ducati do a conversion for their rear stands to fit, if you buy a 848/748 stand you get one with it.

Nope it is a 43mm....40mm wont fit !

Same stand though. Only the early 1098's were different.
MTS1200, Diavel, 1198 etc. all the same

I use the same Paddock stand that I had for my 1098 & 1198SP for my Panigale !! It fits perfectly!

42mm was for the 2007 1098. 2008 onwards was 40mm, for 1098, 1198 and 1199. 848 has the same as the 748,916,996 & 998 at 25mm.
