IMO do a TD on the bike before you spend any money. You will be quite suprised at how little set up they need. Sounds like you will a good idea of what you want from doing the endurance racing but remember, rev limiter comes in at just over 9k which would have been tickover on the 600. Also due to the relevent lack of va va voom you will need to get it flat out and then not use the brakes
