Engine cylinder compression measured with DDS instrument:
Standard value = 11 to 12 bar
Service Limit = 10 bar (MIN.), difference between the two cylinders = 2 bar (MAX.)

29psi difference seems to be a real wide tolerance to me, but what do I know...

So your good cylinder is in spec at 11.2 bar. I certainly would not accept 29 psi difference, as it would be impossible to get an even tickover. How they arrive at that level of difference is questionable.

Ok, so now I have the answer.

Section of top ring missing, along with a chunk of the crown of the piston, and the obvious aftermath of these bits being eaten by the engine.
so it has a scored barrel, Damaged piston, and chewed head.

Barrel piston and head are being replaced under warranty, barrel and piston have been returned to ducati for inspection.
And to think if I had not pursued this, two dealers had told me all wad well. Goes to show familiarity with your bike and knowing something is not as it should be is worth investigating.

Skids, didn't get chance to look at the valve seats, but since the head is to be replaced it didn't seem too important now.

Thanks for your thoughts guys.

No doubt the broken bits of ring and piston probably exited through the valves anyway so probably caused a bit of damage in that area, at least they are replacing the head as well as the obviously damaged bits
