Cash is a big part of the process here... I do want more power and to own a true sportsbike and that has a big pull for me.

I can't really afford to go out and get a 749/999 and whatever I get it will probably be a 'dry-weekend-warrior's-bike' for me. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to ride it into London everyday - getting the crap kicked out of it in parking bays in the West End (mind you that could be 'cos the ST ain't so pretty).

The 749/999 does grow on you and I'm not averse to it but it's back to the age old arguement that if you have an expensive bike will you take the risk of getting the last 2mm's out of the tyre - for the sake of £4/5k's worth of damage? ('R' models especially).
