Thanks for the links. Just spent two hours trying to read those digits, they still look like 00 to me. Taken pictures and blown them up but hasn't helped really.

http://jpegbay.com/gallery/001389524-6.html#6

These look exactly like mine, same No. of digits same format much clearer.
Anyone have a No. for Ducati UK importers so I can contact them.
Thanks.

The link was for the style and amount of digits (13) in the vin, the frame is different to mine. I'm sure mines a 916 style with detachable sub frame, its not the 2 valve SS, Monster style frame those 2 digits which look like 00 don't add up though.

ZDM9--S*

Its really difficult to see,the clutch lines been rubbing on the headstock, with a bit of rust right on those 2 digits. Ill take some pics of it later if I can get over there.
Beginning to think I should have stuck with a Bros, but I like the idea of an air cooled 2 valve.

Any joy on Ducati UK Tel. No. Thanks

Forgot to ask is there anywhere else on the frame where nos. might be.
There is a silver sticker on the left side frame tube which runs vertically down towards foot pegs, but anything that was on there has worn off.,

If you look through the registry there are quite a few starting ZDM916S

Looks like ZDM 900 to me.... The zero's are crossed thru so they don't look like O's.
Not sure how far back VIN check looks back on my system. Pm me your last six numbers...the 0014-- number in the photo and I'll check.

To be honest that looks like a home done number and not a factory one. There seems to no consistancy in the size, shape and straightnes of the numbers. The factory ones are done by a machine and therefore reflect that.

I thought the same, Last year I was given to read some ACU paperwork about identifying numbers that had been tampered with and although I can't recall exactly what was on the Ducati page, one theme ran through the whole booklet was the uniform size and spacing of the numbers, You should be able to put a straight edge above or below the frame number and all the digits should be in alignment.
