For the steel arm I made inserts the same width as the inside of the swingarm out of 16mm diameter alloy bar, drilled and tapped 8mm right the way through
then drilled both sides of the swingarm so that I could use a domed head bolt on the inside of the arm to secure the insert and then bolted on a 8mm paddock stand bobbin from the outside.
Might seem like over kill to Neil's method, but I thought I'd do the job properly

I did this job last year - as per the link. I'd never drilled or tapped anything before either and it's a lot easier than you think and worth the effort. Bobbins / cotton reels are so much more secure with your paddock stand - btw the Harris ones are spot on. My only advice is to measure twice and drill once. Good luck.

Just get yourself a length of 4 by 2 and a handful of screws ;-)

paddock stand

I have a spare rear Harris stand, immaculate condition £50 if anybody wants one. Can post or bring to Oulton.
