Hi Gill
your going to have to be really patient and make as much fuss about your injuries as the car drivers insurance will want to cop out every way they can.
they will also find if they can witnesses that will say you where riding to fast/to close etc
can your husband take pictures of the bike from all angles and if at all possible the car so you can show the impact zone on the car, anything and everything will help your case as unfortunately bikers have a very bad rep at the moment and in court you will be the only biker out of 40 odd people.
write down everthing you can remember at the time and before the accident weather traffic volume etc and dont change your statement at all unless you gave it in the hospital under stress if the car drivers insurace think youve changed your statement there jump on it.
the time this all takes depends on the car driver admitting fault before it goes to court even so they will drag there heels to make you accept a lower payout be patient and go for gold lost pay taxis husband off work to look after you etc write it all down.
ps when i said years ago it was back when my mate had an RD400 and i had GS550 23 years i think
good luck.
ian
