900ss info required, ASAP peeps.

Does anyone know if the footrest/rearsets on the early 900ss (before 92), and paso 's, are the same as the early 851(upto 1991early frame).
If so any closeup pics around.

cheers
robin

..and my '91ss is here

..I had a couple of '90 models too and as far as I know the frames and footrests were identical from then till about 97... couldnt say for sure about the 851 for sure tho ...

(my passenger footrests have been chopped to serve as hangers for the cans but they still mount to the same place)

thanks so far guys, looks like it's pre 90 bikes that have the same rearsets as on early 851's.
after 90 they have changed to the newer 888 type.

Hi There

..that's a (not well known) supposedly genuine Ducati 900 - 916 seat conversion unit - paid about 400 bucks for it from my local dealer (sight unseen and from the duc parts catalogue) and nearly died when I went to pick it up... it was just a fibreglass blank and not a very good one at that... no base.. no pads, nuffin.. just a grey fibey thing with not too much obvious potential lol...

.. the underseat to frame mount is the original ss base chopped up to take the unit, the indicators are located inside behind the top vents, my mates brother in law provided the paintwork, and the decals are as that of the 1990 model (I've had two of them nicked and was probably feeling nostalgic at the time) .. the vents are covered with that gauze you get in a P40 fibreglass repair kit lol, cut to shape and sprayed gold ..hey.. if it works

..took a bit of doing but I think it worked out well and completely changed the look of the rear end, not to mention that it's v comfortable and once you get the knack of getting it off and on it's a very practical unit too - I'd be happy to pull it apart and take some fotos of the gubbins if you want - indeed if you know of a decent fibreglass jockey who could pattern it without damaging the paint I'd be up for that too... on account of my bke being parked in a sorry state since the chain snapped directly above the front sprocket smashing an 8x4cm hole in the crankcase and an 8x2 in the timing cover last month... whilst on my way to the meetup point for the Scottish DSC Midgie Masher run would you believe! (if anyone has a spare set of left hand cases I'd love to hear from ya )...

..not that its in anyway relevant, but the twin spot conversion panel on the front is a powerbronze unit.. which came with all fittings, including the lights and wiring diagram, and did exactly what it said on the tin.. even down to the red gel coat matching the 91 colour exactly!

..hope that helps

Cheers

Dano

Thanks for the info Dan, I was curious as I have a plain SL unit that I got from last year that I have decided I'd like to use for trackdays. Funny thing is it has a removeable 'hump' for a pillion as well which caught my eye.

I've just thought of using some of the 'racers foam' on the seat but am undecided yet....I've spent WAYYYY to much time working on the bloody thing and just wanna ride it for a change.

Bad news about the crankcase - I hope it wasnt a DID chain

For cases - check out the breakers list a wrote a while back......

Hmmmmm.....the link does not exist anymore.....I'll put it at the end...

Reservoir cogs and bike-enders are two good Duke breakers I know of but I cant seem to find numbers for them...

Good luck anyway Dan.
