Every 6000 miles is about right for a repack. V-twin power pulses give cans a much harder time than IL4s.

Also depends on which diameter of cans/pipework your using with which engine. 50mm on a 996R is pretty conservative, I'd be looking for at least a full 54mm system.

As for Ti sleeves, if your cans are the standard 16" long ones, sleeves are available from Ducati at circa £125 each. If you've got the longer, fatter factory 18" cans (the ones where you have to cut out the sides of the seat unit to clear them) then both JHP and KJ Performance will have some made for you for about £280 a pair.

The advantage of Ti over carbon is that even if you blow all the packing material, the sleeve won't disintegrate. Think of it as a long term investment. Ti also looks sooooo much better!
