Ebay alert !!!!!!

Watch out if you are an Ebay user and get an email purporting to be advising you of an upgrade, it asks you to go to a site which is supposedly part of Ebay and confirm your account details. Look in the header details of the message and the return path is to "nobody@valinor.warofthering.net"

I've reported it to Ebay but be on the look out as it sounds very dodgy to me !!!!

Quite a few views of my original message so just thought I'd let fellow Ebayers know that Ebay have confirmed it is a hoax/scam to get your account details. Uses ebay logo and links so be aware guys and guyesses !!!!

I also had a dodgy looking e mail from 'ebay' today.

It was from suspend@ebay.com and had the title TKO NOTICE: eBay Registration Suspension.

It seems very iffy to me; looks convincing at first glance but when you look a little deeper there are some clues as to its non-authenticity. Eg- the ebay logo has an R instead of a TM, and does not have the 'dot co dot uk' attached as part of the logo. It reads as follows:

Dear eBay User,

During our regular update and verification of the accounts, we could not verify your current information. Either your information has changed or it is incomplete.

As a result, your access to bid or buy on eBay has been restricted.

According to our site policy you will have to confirm that you are the real owner of the eBay account by log in and complete the form that will pop up or else your account will be suspended without the right to register again with eBay.

After you will login please verify your information in order to complete this verification.

Thank you

eBay Customer Support

You then log in via your e mail message and, I suspect, pass on your password to the great unwashed...

By the way, if you log on via the website in the normal way, everything is just fine, with no hint of your account being suspended!
