I have a fax from the DVLA here with my license category's (nearly didn't have anything to show at Rocky for TA3 ) and the entitlements are a bit confusing.

I have the following full entitlements:
A; B; BE; B1; F; K; and P.

And the following provisional entitlements:
G and H

Interestingly I have on my Aus license an entitlement to drive a non-articluated 8t truck (sorry, lorry) but I could only get that transferred if I passed a medical and did the test (who could be ar$ed?)

I was reading through the notes on the entitlements and I was a bit confused - category A appears to be restricted to 33bhp?? but then looking at the other classes there is nothing that says unrestricted motorcycle license.

Have I just been stitched up or do the above categories mean I can ride a motorcycle without any restrictions?

Do I need to call Neil and get a special chip made up to choke the 996 to death? Take the 54mm Sil Motor's off and put 5mm ones on instead? :P

Description of A according to the information:

"Motorcycles, with or without sidecar. Motorcycles up to (<)25kw (33bhp) and a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kw/kg. Motorcycle combination with a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kw/kg."

I certainly hope your definition of class A is wrong, if not will have to get the 916 restricted as class A is all I have.

I typed that in straight off the Notes regarding Categories

Hence my confusion as it says

Motorcycles, with or without sidecar.

in one sentence and then right next to it starts yabbering on about restrictions in power etc

This is why I thought I'd ask. Everyone I've spoken to at work has no clue because they don't ride bikes.

4. The New Category A and A1 Driving Licence

At age 17 or over, you will have two types of full motorcycle licence to aim for - the A1 light motorcycle licence or the standard category A motorcycle licence.

To gain a full A1 light motorcycle licence you must successfully complete CBT and pass a theory test followed by a practical test on a vehicle between 75cc and 125cc. A full A1 licence permits you to ride any motorcycle up to 125cc and a power output of up to 11kW (14.6 bhp) without 'L' plates, carry pillion passengers and use motorways.

To gain a full standard category A licence you must successfully complete CBT and pass a theory test followed by a practical test on a motorcycle of over 120cc but not larger than 125cc and capable of at least 100kph. In practice the normal test vehicle will be a 125cc machine. A full standard category A licence permits you ride any motorcycle with a power output of up to 25kW (33bhp) and a power-to-weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kW/kg without 'L' plates, carry pillion passengers and use motorways. You are restricted to a motorcycle up to 25kW for two years (not counting any periods of disqualification). After two years you may ride any size motorcycle.

I would assume not - I've had a full M/C license for a few months short of 10 years now.

you dont have the: C1 : C1E: (van/light truck over 1 & half tonnes & van/light truck combined weight not over 7.5 tonnes)
No D1 or D1E (minibus & minbus & trailer) or L & N ?

You should have pushed the case for your truck licensing section (now equal to C1 & C1E, as over here you now cant tow anything like a caravan with a jeep.

BE is car & small trailer only, total not over combined weight of 1 & half tonnes.

You therefore only have the basic Tony - so appeal to them

Bugger ... back on the phone again ...

Looking at the notes again ... I have BE which is:

"Motor cars or light vans with up to 8 passenger seats and up to 3500kg with a trailer up to 750kg."

C1E states:

Vehicles between 3500kg and 7500kg with a trailer over 750kg - combined weight not more than 12000kg."

I think she said I couldn't have that one without passing a test and a medical first i.e, I could have a provisional license. to get that I would have to resubmit my application and I wouldn't have had a license to show at Rocky! Maybe I can appeal after the fact?

BE is a decent size van isn't it (3.5t)?
