Baah Humbug!

Christmas is bo11ox! You spend more money than you can afford on people that you don't like & even then, they don't bl00dy appreciate it!

Saw Advent Calenders in the supermarket on Monday!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!

Festive bollox though Desmondo...

I'm with Glyn on this one. My kids have left home now, but when they were small we used to wait until Christmas Eve and then put up the Christmas tree and let them decorate it. That was a magical time, and they remember it fondly. Last year on the other hand I was in the shops in late November and overheard a Mum talking to her kids..."Only a month to go till Christmas now, are you getting excited?" Yeah right luv..like kids can sustain their excitement for a month, even if you are stupid enough to keep winding them up to a frenzy.

Another thing. Why do I go into the Supermarket any time in the week before Christmas and see families running round with a fleet of shopping trollies stuffed to overflowing? Fer chrissakes why do people do that? Most shops are only closed for two days, and some of 'em are even open on Boxing Day now...it's not a siege! Except it might as well be 'cos the checkout queue is 5 miles long and stuffed with old dears saying things like "Are you ready for Christmas then" and with a big sigh one of the others will say "Oh just about, but I've still got to get my crackers".

Arrrrrrggggghhhhhhh. It's just an endurance test. People don't really enjoy the festivities, it's just a chance to outdo each other on the amount of adversity they had to put up with....

It's true though, people revel in the personal struggle they had over the arduous task of getting the Christmas shopping....

Conversations go a bit like:

:"Cor, you should've seen the crowds in Tesco, and the traffic going into Bedford...never seen anything like it"

:"That's nothing. I was in Asda in Milton Keynes and they had guards on the door stopping any more coming in. Traffic was so bad they had to get the Police helicopter out"

"Oh you had it easy then...in Bedford we had people qeueing for 14 miles for mince pies, some of them had been there since August"

It's just like that Monty Python sketch where the Yorkshire blokes are trying to outdo each other on how tough they had it.

It'll be the same when the first sprinkling of snow comes, there will be a millimetre of the stuff on the road and people will be coming in to work saying

"Good grief, it's just taken me three hours to do a journey that normally takes ten minutes"

"Ah yes, but we've had it bad over our way... it took me three hours to walk down my front path"

"Well, I say three hours for a ten minute journey, but that was after I'd struggled for 14 hours to get down our hallway, the wind had blown it all in through the letterbox and there were drifts ten feet deep up the stairs"

"Ah yes, but we had it worse over our way..you couldn't even see our house...it was completely buried"

"That's what you get when you and your two brothers build it out of sticks you tw...."
