The Royal Barge sets sails for warmer climes

On Saturday the 9th of October my faithful old ST2 was picked up by her new owner.

After the 996 didn't sell, I decided to race that next year and let the St go instead. I don't need two bikes and as I no longer ride on the road, the ST was the obvious choice.

I took her out last week in glorious autumn sunshine for her MOT, and it made me realise what a delight the ST really is. Ok, so it's not got the glamour of her racier stablemates, and she only shoves out around 80 ponies, but she handles beautifully and is very stable. On the way back I did rather more miles than might be expected and enjoyed them enormously.

I eventually sold her to a fellow pilot mate from Norfolk who hasn't ridden in ten years. His last bike being a GSXr750, the ST came as a bit of a shock to him. He called me afterwards to announce how comfortable he felt after the long drive back to Norfolk, probably a rare change after the gazook!

So farewell faithful old barge, and welcome to Rob P when he appears on this board as a fellow Ducatisti - and YES, I did tell him about the DSC!

Its always sad to have to let good bikes go, I think for whatever reason.

But its a great excuse for an ST5/6 in future years

Yes babes it was sad to see her go, but it was a waste of a really stunning example of the breed just sitting there waiting to be used. Was always my 1st choice for you to sell it and keep the 996. Just dont kill yourself racing- you no good to me dead!! LB
