wonder how the desmosedici would have faired with its launch control. rutter was leaning all over the front trying to keep it down.

I noticed that when they gave you a rear view it looked as though Rutter bogged it down a bit and then had another go. Still i guess eventually the laws of physics take over.

Mood: R U thinking what I'm thinking?......Oh dear!
You can buy a Honda F1 motor. It just takes a LOT of money.
Basically set up an F1 team and negotiate or Buy Jordan GP.
You can buy ex F1 Ferraris with the right connections and a container load of Euros.

Speed costs money.......................How fast do ya wanna go?

The bike did well for a short distance off the line but the F1 car was always going to win as it has a better power to weight ratio. very imporessive to see it catch and pull away from the bike.
Not so impressive to see em drone round a track for 1.5 hours on a Sunday stuck to surface with aerodynamitrickery.

GP drivers are over paid (those that do get paid by the team rather than bring a bag of gold to run the team) wussies who hide behind Bernies paddock barriers.

Tiff seemed surprised that the bike put its power down as well as it did with just that Skinny Michelin on the back.

I agree with Rockhopper, it might have been a fairer comparison to run a MotoGP bike against an F1 car, but the car would still have won. The simple physics of power to weight ratio is what does it.

However, there is only one thing that allows the car to do this, and it's not brute horsepower, it's aerodynamics. The car couldn't use all it's power until it got up to about 100 mph and generated enough downforce to keep it's traction. Any attempt to nail it before then and it would just light the tyres up.

It's also aerodynamics, and that alone, that allow the massive braking effects and corner speed that a car can produce - hence the faster lap times. IMHO it's also aerodynamics that make F1 the most incredibly boring rubbish 'sport'. Take the wings off, that's what I say. If you did that you would get cornering that was more down to the drivers car control than being clamped to the track (these things could run upside down you know), but the biggest effect would be in making the braking distances far, far longer and where do most overtakes occur...in the braking zone. Without the stupendous stopping power of aerodynamics mashing the tyres into the track the braking distances would be 3 or 4 times longer, you might actually see some overtaking, the racing might be closer and who knows, you might find you could be ****d to watch it again.

Rock on Jools - that would be the best improvement they could make!

Rip off the wings I say, and the undertrays etc ...

Not when it came to the came to the corners tho

Cool - just seen it - good blast, echoing most of the sentiment here, I don't think it was a level playing field though- it may have been better with a gp bike - as was stated the F1 car weighs 4 times more than the BSB bike but has 5.5 times the power (900+) and better aerodynamics so it should win.

F1 is still way too dull though.

I initially thought that the car would have trouble getting the power down and would wheel spin for most of the run. I never thought the boat would do anything but it looks like they picked an especially weedy one anyhow.
