Thanks for all of the advice so far (Kev, SeeleyG50 and for the offer of parts from Banger San) I look forward to meeting you and the rest of the club at Brands).

I contacted Ignitech and as far as I can tell the programmable TCIP4, connector adapter, USB/COM adaptor, CD rom etc and P&P is €174, approx (£126.67) depending on exchange rates. If I go this way Kev can I get a copy of you 583 ignition map?

I will hopefully be able to talk to you all at Brands to find a solution or whether to stick with the original type components or more modern versions.
I'll be in the converted ambulance with a fluorescent yellow bonnet, so feel free to drop by for a coffee/beer.
Thanks again

If it's running ok the biggest factor is the stupid pink thing sat on the seat. Is this your first year racing?

Hope you won't be one of those namby pamby garage dwelling types,
Most of us will be in the bottom paddock with a tin in our hand anyway.

Yes its my first year, never thought of myself as a namby pamby type and would rather be under canvas than a garage.

And how do you know my leathers are pink?

Well you've picked a brill place to start, just keep your doors locked if Blomfield is lurking nearby.

Yep no problem with letting you have a copy, it has a tiny file size so easy to email

Pete Pritchard has a Ignitech on his Class B bike, which is Paul Nelson's old bike and has been running trouble free for some years now, I suspect he'll be at Brands as it's his closest track
