Now, the reason you are Cisco and I am Microsoft is clearly because you are smarter than me!

Not saying I'm smarter, just playing the DVLA at their own game.

Perhaps it might be easier to just pay for the tax for the year and declare it next year (or even cheekier, declare it SORN next month and reclaim the tax!).

£33 guaranteed v potentially £1,000? Better the devil you know....

i chopped in my 996R for my 999R back in May and forgot to send off my part of the v5 notifying the dvla that the bike is owned by a motor trader.
Received notification from dvla when the tax had run out which reminded me to send off v5 but i obviously didnt do it with the required time scales.
I got a £40 fine letter a month or so back closely following a letter thanking me for informing dvla of change of owner, so i ignore £40 fine letter thinking that it was all sorted. Just got a letter telling me that i am being taken to court and the fine is now £80! For a bike that is neither mine or on the road!

Had same when I traded the 996 to a dealer.
He said I need do nothing with the logbook as he would take care of it.
Gopt the same £40 fine.
Wrote a letter to DVLA statin he had said he would sort it and I need od nothing and named him.
Rang him and called in a soon to be censored word or ten and got a letter from DVLA within the week to say they would take it up with him.
No fine, no worries.

TP, option of taxing the bike and cancelling after less than a month is a damn good idea.
Regards the 'sorn was lost in the post', dont you have to hand em in at the post office and get a receipt now?
Sure I saw this somewhere??????
