DVD recorders

I'm in the market for a DVD recorder, but I don't know that much about them all. Can anyone point me out a few essentials that I should be looking for please? Not intending on spending any more than about £200 ish.

Cheers guys and gals.

Ade.

If your'e talking about non PC ones there are now DVD recorders that incorporate a Video recorder as well, ideal for transfering old video recordings to DVD. I'll be checking them out in the January sales. 6 months ago there were only a few about at just under £300, hopefully after Xmas I'll get one for around £200

Being totaly bored wondering around Sainsbury's at the weekend, I noticed they do cheap & nasty looking DVD recorders for £150. The manufaturer was 'Maco' or something like that.
Just curious if anyone would admit to owning one & if any good.

I bought the Mico ones - in fact, they were doing them for £85 (for the refurb ones) so I got 2 of them!

The specs are decent (plays anything you throw at it) and easy to use.

Unfortunately, they keep breaking on me and I have to return them. This Saturday will be my third trip back to return one, and I'll be leaving there with cash rather than a replacement.

It's really my fault as I went for the low rent version (refurb) of what is a low rent machine. If you are going to buy the Mico, don't be tempted by the refurbs...

The Gadget Chicken strikes again. Twice in one day - you lucky people!

DVD Recorder

I was in the market for a home cinema system in April this year and looked at what DVD recorders were available. You do get what you pay for and after much research I bought a Philips LX9000R DVD Recorder Home Entertainment System. What a piece of kit this is. Surround sound and two massive tube subwoofers. The sound is awesome. As for recording, it is excellent. Even when on 6hrs recording time the quality tops VHS any day. I record the full MotoGP, WSB and BSB onto one DVD+RW disc when I'm not about to view them. Best thing was the price - £500. I didn't get mine from comet but they have them at that price now. I've been hanging back a bit waiting for this technology to 'mature' - it seems that it is and even my wife is wishing that she let me get a surround sound DVD last time ....

I think she'll just let me go next time
