Mood: Growing old-DISGRACEFULLY!
Bearing in mind I am older than you lot-look at the front page if you don't believe me-most of my cars were classics compared to you'se.
Learned to drive in my dads Morris Oxford Traveller, 1955 4 speed column gearchange, drove my mums Morris Minor-not a minor 1000 mind but the old 850 sidevalve job-that was my first car. I had a T60/4 Berkeley 3 wheeler before that-like a mini E-type with 1 wheel on the back and a mighty 325cc Excelsior 2stroke twin engine, front wheel drive as well. It went very well for a little 'en, good cornering too, it was about the only 3 wheeler you couldn't turn over-and yes we did try. Mate of mine had a 3 wheel Reliant, we could get that onto 2 wheels in a straight line-scary or what-although we didn't think so at the time.........
I then progressed through a Mini Cooper, Cooper S 1340, Frog Eye Sprite complete with 1600cc half race MGA engine-always breaking halfshafts that one-Mk2 3.8 Jag, Triumph TR3A, Renault 16, 6 VW beatles of various capacities. Then I got a company car and haven't owned a car for over 30 years. I have owned loads more than named but those were the major ones.

1959 Ford Fairlane, 312 CI cruise machine, morphed into a 390 Ci with beefed auto trans, metallic brakes, koni shocks, morphed into a twin four barrel carbed, high lift cammed, hi-comp piston monster,
1956 Chevy with straight six. USed to carry my Suzuki dirt bike in the back seat area and also a great little dirt tracker (very very pre WRC)
1957 Ford Fairlane Salesman sedan with original straight six bought from a stripper for 25 yankee dollars, used for commuting to college, then morphed into a 7 liter (406 CI) early Nascar engined street racer, heavy springs, koni shocks, metallic brakes, 4:11 rear limited slip, light as hell and uglier to boot.
1964 Chevy with 283 CI V8, that stood up to immense abuse during graduate school.
1975 Mazda pickup truck, 1300 CC for hauling gear and bikes around.
Sporty urges were handled by Kawasaki A-1 and A-7, and awesome 350 that champed through lots of long hard miles.
Gee, Europe sure is a different place!

Mk 1 Escort (with 2 litre engine thrown in it, and original 1100 brakes )
Followed by Fiat 126
then Cortina Mk 2, with twin choke Webber carbs & other go faster bits
Couple of capri's (I loved the 3 litre one! )
Then a selection of whatever was in for sale......

I'd still like to get a 126 to 'customise' just for fun now......

I'm with Nigel C on this one, the first car(?) I had was a Sherpa van to carry my race bike.

Any money spent on cars is money that could have been spent on my bike, so I leave the cars to my wife, one car is enough.
