Telecoms engineer man and boy!!!!
12 years in the Royal Signals - joined as a sprog at 16 as an RTG (Mostly brilliant, but I was lucky with my postings.....)
2 years at Vodafone as a field engineer till the bean counters got involved and laid most of us off - I was told by a director that I was fine, then I had a phone call at about 6 p.m. while in the pub to tell me that "you were told the wrong information".....Tossers...I'm with Orange now funnily enough.....
2 years as a 3G base station field engineer - enjoyable but for the F. off big green van I had to drive around...all for a laptop and a signal generator......Just the ticket when you have to commission a site on a roof top in Oxford street.....Not.
9 months contracting at a big new round place in Cheltenham....Sssshhhhh........
Now I find myself working in Iraq! Our company provides comms solutions for the MOD. Do about 6 weeks on and then about 2 weeks back home. Good laugh as most of us are ex forces and it pays the bills (by quite a bit which is the only reason I am doing it.....). So far have kept all my body parts intact.......
