PS: Unless you are well computer litterate, don't use AOL. You will NEVER get the software off your machine without re-formatting your hard drive. AOL is good for most users, but when you do get fed-up with it, and most do, it's a nightmare

I use AOL broadband with dial up so that Ican use the lap top in the kitchen while she that must be obeyed can use broadband in the office, cost £36 a month, just started to have problems with accessing broadband so beware!

Why are you changing from BT?

I use BT home broadband. I use it for work and i download lots of large documents etc from connection to work vpn and have never encountered a limit.

Not certain how much it is, something like 23 quid a month, but its been totally reliable and its one of the only one's that work like us to use.

Not great customer service by all accounts, but not had any problems myself.

Coz they are a bunch of tw@'s - they can't just switch over the billing address of the one I have, but insist that I cancel that one and setup a new one and incur installation costs etc... so sod 'em - they'll lose the business.

No great shakes to them I know - but it feels like a moral victory to me.

Just been doing this search myself,

I look like going with Eclipse as Scott suggests.

Main reasons for me were:

a) In the poll sites that compare them they get consistantly good reviews

b) They have a service where you can 'beef' up your bandwith to a faster speed for however long you want just to download batches of data and the revert back to your normal bandwidth, paying only for the time you 'flexed' up your speed. Ideal for me.

And also, cos Virgin Net disconnected me without even contacting me cos my credit card they use for collecting my ISP fee had expired. Hence the absence of my avatar. Guess they erased my ftp area too. Tw@ts!!!! Wait till I see Branson down the pub....................

Plus net for me.Superb service,never lost a connection and you can swap between bandwiths monthly if you want.

Not on broadband at the moment, I am with wanadoo on the standard £14.99 a month for the snail service as I call it.
Have looked at a few services, a lot say "no download limit" but when you look into the deatails the down load speed is 216 or 512mps(?), the £17.99 from wanadoo has a limit but the download speed is 1k, so would the IT experts please clarify this for me, Thanks.
