I've not made any final descission yet tony which avenue to take, duke or something else, getting a short list together at present to see who got what.
would prefer another duke, but have a complex now about the running cost of another duke, and every time that I go into the garage, I see a very big bill sitting there, hence why I am looking at cbr or somethingy else.
purchase cost is a factor, but running cost are even a bigger issue.
I need a bike that I can use on a day to day basis aswell as some trackdays and touring before the summer ends.
But I'm still open minded to the whole situtation, if you get my drift mate.

No worries Robin, it's cool.

Just let me know what you want to do later when you make a decision.

Try a Suzuki DRZ 400SM, there rerally nice and fun, My misses won`t let me get one as I don`t use the two bikes in the garage enough.

Robin,

I had a CBR600 FX which is the one you are considering, last of the carb CBRs, I fitted a Scorpion cand and a matched Dynojet kit and put 16000 miles on it in the 2 years I owned it.

Not a single problem and it was run all year round including French trips, trackdays and regular runs into Wales.

It would be my 1st choice as an "everyday" sportsbike if I needed one.

Heres one for sale on VD as a comparable and this ones not badly priced ...

I always prefered the Earlier Steel framed CBR600's over the Alloy framed FX/FY model, up until 98 the FV and FW models were probably one of the best 600s you could get, then the R6 came along and I feel the R6 is a lot better bike than the first Alloy framed CBRs.
Currently I own 3 Jap 600s, my 1997 CBR600FV, a 1998 R6 and a 2002 GSXR600K2 and they are all capable bikes, but for Distance work and track work the CBR600 is probably the best all rounder and costs less than the others.
