and today I've had the same thing, although to a lesser extent than rushjob...

It's understandable why different brokers can quote a different price from the same underwriter - because of different pricing plans relating to volume of business - but the same broker + underwriter combination? Just smells of "trying it on"

I think I can understand why you might get a lower price after phoning...
They start by quoting you in consideration of the profit they'd LIKE to make, then if you phone up and say no thanks they'll consider lowering their margin if they want to keep your business.

Bugga, it sounds like I'm defending the insurance industry! Rest assured, it's not my intention!! I'd still like to understand why my mate, serial claimant, gets cheaper insurance than I do when I've had 30 years worth of insurance policies with just one claim for a windscreen?? Ah yes, he's married with kids... anyone want to marry me and have my children? (Not you Dibble!)
