TV/DVD Screen Grabs/Stills
One for the experts
Just got a my copy of this years TT DVD and in the light weight race there is a excellent bit of footage of my Bike with Adrian Crossan riding it coming down the Cregg from Kates cottage with a bike ahead of him and another behind.
Over the years this has always been one my favourite places for getting good pictures.
There is a excellent one with Joey Dunlop and another with DJ that are available.
I was wondering if it was possible to get a decent still from the DVD footage that would make a good sized picture and if so how to go about getting it done.

Kev,

Getting a screen grab isn't too difficult (with the right software ). The problem is that the screen / dvd resolution isn't that great with PAL DVD being approx 576x852. Soooo....It's near impossible to get a picture of that resolution blown up to a decent size.

Have you tried PrtSc as a basic resort, then just open paint/photoshop or even Word and paste.

That won't work as DVD uses video overlay, and a different video buffer to the desktop. You'll just end up with a big black square where the video should be!

Hello Skidlids,

My advice you be try and source the orignal material, if you can get a Hi-res image on CD, I would be happy to do any photoshop work needed and get a good quality print done for you.

As already said, there's plenty of ways to get a still from the video, but the resolution will be too low to get any decent sized good quality print from it.
