SILLY QUESTION?
I am currently selling the 748r to pay for next yrs racing and a few people have asked if it has a production number plaque.
As far as i am aware the 'R' versions were not granted this privileage even though they only produced approx 1000 uk versions.
Am i correct??????

All the 748Rs I've seen have an edition number plate on the headstock.

You just panicked me big time!!!
The last owner has polished the top yoke and therefore removed the plaque, just double checked chassis/engine numbers etc... and we are all right there so all is good!
Any ideas on how i could find out that number?

Give the chassis/engine numbers to Ducati and get them to tell you.

answered my own question.
Ducati UK have confirmed all is ok but they cannot trace the actual production number that corresponds with the bike as they kept no records for that.
Why do these idiots remove such a valuable piece off the bike?

You've answered what I was going to say, whether the top yoke had been removed/swapped/polished etc....

Have you tried an email to Ducati in Bologna? They may well keep records even if Ducati UK doesn't. You can contact them through the website and they've always been really helpful in the past:

What year is the bike? As i thought the 2000 model year without the Ohlins kit did not have a plaque!
