Medical peeps - stabbing pain?
Bit of an odd one this, for the last few days, and I guess it happened a few months ago also, I keep getting a sharp, stabbing pain in my left thumb (of all places) between the knuckle and the end of my thumbnail, where the nail grows from I guess.

It's not bruised and I haven't injured it in any way, but I just receive some really sharp pains throughout the course of the day, and night - it woke me up the other night.

It's more annoying, and painful than worrying, but I just haven't got any idea what it could be, and what could be causing this.

Anyone got any ideas?

I would say that too, but I haven't been on the PS2 in a week or two now, so unsure where this pain is coming from

Ingrowing nail? They can be very painful when they start cutting into a nerve.

Give the NHS helpline a call - they're pretty good as it's manned by Doctors and it's easier than booking to see your local GP.

0845 4647

(yes ... that's the full number!)

Doesn't look ingrowing though, not discolouration etc, and generally doesn't hurt if I apply pressure to it, it just comes and goes, but for the last few days has been agony.

I'd guess it could be mild arthritis or something, but there's no joint where the pain is

Sounds like an infected Paronychia to me.
Amputation OR an immediate cessation of all dishwashing activities is called for.
Or could try homeopathy.
