How does the 749 compare to the 748r
a customer of mine has offered to px his 749 for my 748r.

apart from the looks, does anyone who has actually owned both have any opinions please.

I dont (for obvious reasons) want to get lumbered with a bad choice.

cheers
ryan

749 is the Testastretta engine - all the 748 bikes were the "normal" twin.

Stick a post in the 749 forum (if not already) as I'm sure there are a load of people who have tried or owned both.

I have considered this many times, none more so than when Ducati was offering 0% finance in the summer on the 749 dark.

It's a real hard one, I have been following the reviews that Perfromance bike have been doing on their long termer and it always receives real favourable creative writing, a few reliability issues but nothing to worry about.

I think this is a decision that many of us will need to make over the coming years...

I guess it depends on your preference, as much as I love the spec of the R I could live without the differences but I cant get enthusiastic about paying more for a lesser spec bike (discounting the benefits of age). I think that I will wait and see what happens to the price of the 749r before I make the change.

Good luck with your decision.

Why does he want your 748r? The fact he wants to swap tells you something doesn't it? How much is he offering you with the 749!!!:puzzled::puzzled:

I see you have done it!

Congratulations on the decision, part of me is interested in your views and yet part of me fears that you are going to say how much better it is!

Enjoy fella.

I suspect your right but my next bike will end with a '9'. As long as its red I should be able to get away without the missus finding out

Are you sure it shouldn't end in an 'R'??

I think it could 'end' in divorce let alone an 'r' if I spent R money on the 9 series!
