Pdf??????
Why when i try to open a pdf file, why do i get a screen full of what looks like it came from a wall in an egyptian tomb.
Am given an option to change the encription, but no joy.
Can anyone offer any tips?

if u are trying to open the pdf from a web page then right click and save it to your pc first, then open it ...

Nope! that didn't work. Any other ideas???? Bearing in mind that computers were invented 2000 years beyond my understanding of how they work.

What version of Acrobat are you using?
It may be that you have an old version?

Sorry mate. Not a clue. As said computers are not my forte. Thought that there may have been something simple that i was missing. Will try and find out.

Open Adobe Reader program and it should display the version as it fires up. If not, on the HELP pull-down menu click "About Adobe Reader" and it'll tell you.

Version 6.0 or higher should read all pdf files just fine.
You can download the latest version here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Or maybe the file you're trying to open is knackered! Get someone else to try opening it to see if it's ok.

Sounds like it may not actually be a pdf, but has been named wrongly with .pdf as its extension.

If you try saving it and then opening it in notepad, if it's a pdf then the first line should start something like this: %PDF-1.4

Do you have acrobat reader associated with PDF file types?
