I think the bike is near Toulouse

ok maybe that's not the good word. You've got 2 of them on all modern Ducatis (except the D16 which has 4 of them), and you put a piston in it. What's the name for that?

So the vertical one has to be changed on that bike... don't ask why

It is called "new piston required on rear cylinder". One might assume that the bike has suffered a partial siezure when he crashed it.

Please remember that a pair of barrels and pistons is £900 or so!

You were correct Antoine

Sometimes it is called a 'Barrell' too, but it is a cylinder really.

TP was just shocked that the bike needed the cylinder to be replaced - coz it's expensive (as Chris pointed out)
