Racing thoughts...
Reflecting on my weekend....and the future..

I went in to Snett, feeling good (bit of a cold)....

I had decided that 4 wins from 4 races would get me 2nd in the championship.

How my mind went...

Mistake one - running away from the pack on lap one, hot into the last corner, run wide and didn't power on early enough to pull it in line, and should have backed off and ridden it out on the rumbles rather than try and power across them and the grass back to the track.

Mistake two - I had Andy very close behind me and was determined to get Eric between him and I prior to last lap banzais. Coram, tried twice around the outside of Eric, no good, committed very early to the inside next lap and ....bang...think I should have continued around the outside and just been more committed to outbreak him into the last chicane?

I need to learn from these two incidents for next year.

I can only imagine the speed of thought and decision making the 'top level' racers process.

I have a feeling Class A 620 might just be a little 'hot' next year.....

I've been learning all season too Chris.

I've made errors which have prevented me from winning the last 10 races. I think I could have put myself in a winning position in them all, but I've made mistakes and it's cost me wins. I've not made the same mistake twice though - yet!

You can't win a race on the first lap, and to finish first, blah blah blah.

Annoying, but true

One thing we all know though is that you have blistering pace, now you need to harness it and put the lessons into practice (like Griff).

Very true, and by christ will he be a nightmare if he keeps it upright.

I reckon we should call him Xaus from now on...

Hey Chris, you certainly have pace, just need to tame it and you'll be a winner. Just make sure its Class A

Thread wasn't intended to be about me, just racing in general and the speed of decisions and the consequences when you get it wrong.....

I'm interested in others views of how you learn, adapt and get better at this stuff...

(Thanks for the comments though).

Make mistakes only once young Chris!

You won't have so many worries next year on your 620 anyway. Everyone you'll be riding with will be doing pretty much the same thing, unlike the 583 v 620 battles.
