removing a breather valve

Hello,

any ideas which tool to use? I am trying to remove an anodised breather from a 748bp, which has small holes around the base. It stuck fast . .

Sorry, I know the thingamybob you mean but I've never taken one off. I had thought it was just a press fit?

Apparently they screw in.
I think the holes are not to remove it with, but to take it apart. Could be wrong though.

Best bet is to use a belt clamp (like used for oil filters or by old people to open jam jars

)

The holes around the side are indeed to remove the breather from the engine.

What you need is a "hook spanner". I got mine from Farnell. Here's a link to the tool you need: http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/catalog/vi...?prodId=225254.

Only problem is you need a minimum order of £10 before VAT. I just got some TV remote control sized batteries to bump it up over the £10 mark.

You could find that the breather is in pretty securely, most after market versions recommend using a sealing compound such as silicone.

Hello,

Well thanyou for the constructive and not so advice, I think I will pass on the Dynamite, it's the breather I need off not the garage roof

I will try a belt clamp first, and yes I put it on using compound in the first place . . .

never leaked oil though . . . .

TT I put mine on with the same rubber O ring that was off the std one. Hasn't leaked yet. I had it on my other bike and to get it off, I just persuaded it with a softwood timber dowl
