I'm looking to make up some small panels / parts for the race bike in f/g and wondered if anyone knows how easy this might be.

Nothing too complicated, i want to make a mould up and then use f/g to make a part from this.

Is it possible?

If anyone knows, and can drop me the info or their number via U2U, I can call when best.

Tim, i made the seat unit for my bike from scratch and modded the bottom fairing to include the bellypan.

I made the original seat in steel and painted it.A master mould was taken of and then a unit moulded out of the master. A customer of my company who used to be a fibreglass man advised and helped with the moulding.He made it look easy.I made a right mess and made hard work of it.Pretty chuffed with how it turned out though although the master did move on curing and pinched a bit of width from the original

Not as easy as it might seem and i work with car bodys and paint for a living.

Looks like i need to make a master first then - might get a sheet of ali and have a play. If it works out, might stick with that.

You should post a pic of your bike, she looks great - and goes very well. Despite the early modification attempts

Nice form in the races and looks like there's more to come as you get more use to the bike.

Tim I use to make moulds for fibreglass many years ago. We always used plywood and apoxy resin filler. You could build up the layers of the mould with plywood, sand off or plane the external corners. When you have a reasonable basic shape, spray the item you want to copy with wd40, mix a load of car body filler and push it into the places that you couldn't shape with the plywood and press on your copy panel and leave until the filler has gone off. Its a tedious job now of sanding and refilling until you have the prefect shape and fit.
