The tyres on my 916 are dated 2006 and 2007, I know they need replacing but what make should I use for fast road use and what should I avoid?

What kind of mileage are you doing Yorkie?

I go for higher mileage type tyres on the Hypermotard as it's used as a commuter bike over a back-road thrasher. I used to run Pirelli Angel GT on it but just didn't gel with them and felt them too hard - even though I get excellent 10,000 miles out of a set - so this time I opted for the slightly softer Angel ST that I've had before.

One the 748 I have always gone with Bridgestone and that gets used on fast road and track too. I went for the BT014 this time - nothing too sticky but good enough for the road and the odd track use as well.

I don't think you'll go wrong with whatever you choose, it's just a case of finding the right balance between sticky and hard

I am not sure on my mileage yet as I am still getting used to it although I managed 750 miles odd this weekend was great.

I bought some Maxxis for my Monster project but I want some sticky quality tyres for the 916. What are the Diablo Supercorsa SPs like?.

How about Michelin Pilot RS's? Has anyone used these at all?

I use Michelin Pilot Power 2CT on a couple of bikes and cant praise them enough, brilliant sticky tyre and can be found cheap as they have been replaced by a nwer model. I got my last pair new (made 2016) for 137 quid delivered!!

Supercorsa SP's are absolutely awesome for silly fast road and track use but really struggled on cold frosty mornings if thats an issue for you. Hugely confidence inspiring when warm. Wear very quick too, I killed a front in less than 3000 miles and a rear didnt last 2000.

Good all round tyres for road and occasional trackday? Metzler M7rr's are spot on, I used a set last year for a charity ride, tour round scotland and a trackday at cadwell - over 2,500 miles in 4 days and not a squeak from the tyres.
On my 996 atm? Perennial favourites are Dunlop D211's - using a 190/55 rear. Grippy as hell on track, yet really forgiving on road even in the rain in a way that supercorsas and racetecs aren't - they're bloody dreadful when it gets cold let alone wet!

Metzler Roadtec 01's and Michelin Road 4's get my vote for seriiously good mileage and rain riding...

I eventually went for the Metzler M7 RRs and I really like them. I took the rear up to a 190 and I like the way the bike handles now.

I've actually heard good things about Metzler M7 RRs too. Going to be my next tyre when it's time for a replacement for sure.
