Cheap phone calls

Not bike related but I wondered if anyone has found a better call pricing system than 18866.com ?

I've no commercial connection with the organisation before I get accused of advertising but have found them to be remarkably cost effective.

I currently get all UK land line calls free (apart from 1p per call dial up charge) at any time of day, cheap calls abroad (can phone my sister in New Zealand for 1p per minute !!!) and it's simple to use. Just need to log on to the site and register and away you go.

Would be interested to hear if anyone else uses it or has found anything better, I don't like paying rip off companies like BT any more than I have to !.

I use Skype (www.skype.com) a lot when I am travelling (on a wi-fi laptop and headphones). If you've got access to a computer, you should be able to use Skype.

Free PC to PC calls and penny a minute to call most landlines around the world (calls to mobile usually more because of the termination rates unless it is a called party pays system like the US).

18866.com is a carrier pre-select operator who are arbitraging between what the network operators charges them on a wholesale basis and what they charge you on a retail basis. Like most arb opportunities, profitability gets squeezed as too many players enter so expect a lot of these kinds of companies to close in the next 2 years. In the meantime just make sure that you don't buy too many prepaid credits in advance.

Interesting one Chicken, 18866 don't ask for pre payment which makes it an even better deal, see your point about the tits being squeezed financialy but it's a case of making hay while the sun shines, fed up with getting fleeced by the big badly run providers. Looks like the energy providers are going to give us a hammering next, anybody recommend a good electricity/gas scheme ??. Used to think it was right to buy gas from the gas people and electricity from the electricity people, until I realised that more than half of our utility companies, including water, are owned by foreign companies.

Mood: Still having fun!
heard something on the radio the other day advising us to wait a couple of weeks before deciding on the power suppliers as they are all about to put up their prices.

Something is very wrong that we as a country are a wholeale supplier of gas (which gets used to create electicity) to europe yet our prices to end users (us) can be higher than Europe. Another example of rip off UK. It is being investigated but OFFGAS cannot get info on Europe only UK so bit of a waste of time.

We are probably supplying the gas to Europe as they own the gas companies, when you start asking questions it's horrendous to find what lttle control we have over our utilities in this country. I'm all for free trade and not making any political statement here but to allow foreign interests to own our utility companies, particularly water, which is now largely owned by our good freinds the French seems rather naive.

Mood: Finally gotten over the 748R getting stolen thing. Actually, no i haven't !
Hi chicken
They are an indirect operator not a cps operator as such. You have a call by call choice to use the prefix or not. CPS is different.
Who really cares if you get such cheap calls though.

I currently have a dedicated mobile with an excessive amount of inclusive off peak calls... that's going straight away, I like the sound of this....
Unlimited UK landline calls for 1p each? Far too good to turn down even if it doesn't last forever.
