A 5 year olds view of our roads.....

Porbably a parents (and teachers - Lisa) - post this....

I had a charming chat with my 5 y.o. daughter on the way to school this morning....

'daddy - wouldnt it be nice if all the roads were lovely and clean?'

ME - 'yes sweetie - but theres lots of rubbish and only so many people to clean it up'

'but daddy, how about if all the roads didnt have any bumps in them or where we walk as well'

ME - 'well, that would be nice - you could use your scooter on the pavement and have fun'.

DAUGHTER SEES A MAN ON A PEDAL BIKE

'how about.....if there were no cars allowed on the roads as well - then you could take me to school on the back of your pedal bike with my seat on?'

ME - 'I'd like that, it would be good to take you riding without worrying about all the traffic as well. Would you allow motorbikes on the roads as well?'

'ohhh yes - motorbikes would be OK - but we cant have any taxis' because mommy shouts at them a lot'

ME - laughing 'I didnt know that - thats a great rule - but there's still a lot of other traffic on the roads - how about buses and lorries?'

'wellllll........buses are good because they carry lots of people and they can all talk together but, I dont like lorries....too big'

ME - 'but they do carry food and lots and other things'

LONG PAUSE

'couldn't they use a train daddy'?

ME - 'Sweetheart you have my vote for Prime Minister' !!!

I think shes smarter now than I was at about 25 or so - lol.

Cheers - Frank

She's got my vote Frank.

There is a big debate going on where I live in Cambridgeshire at the moment about the A14-it's only 2 lanes and is always blocked up with lorries and has a VERY bad accident record. The latest wheeze is to stop the lorries and bolock them about 'slow overtaking' which causes congestion............How about bolocking the idiot of a traffic planner who decided that a main road linking the midlands to the east coast ports only needed 2 lanes-because the lorries will all drive down the M1, round the M25 and back up the A12 like they have always done-yeh of course they will-especially when the newer route is 30 miles shorter...................IDIOTS

rearrange:-"head nail on the you hit the"

It is rumoured that one of the road planners in Warrington was absent from his award ceremony, because he got bitten by his guide dog.

I sat in on M6 services inquiry recently (J21~22) and the local road planner said he couldn't estimate the amount of traffic coming from M6, so he estimated for the worse case and decided a 3 lane mega roundabout would be needed.
Barrister retorted "Then why don't you ask the motorway traffic planner for data?"
Road planner was stumped and couldn't answer. I personally would've sacked 'im.

I just love their simplicity...What I want to know is how adults lose this grip on reality?...
As an example...we are watching TV and the "No win No fee" advert comes on.They explain that the woman fell off her chair at work and claimed xxxthousands in compensation.

My lad..." Mummy...why did the work have to pay the lady all that money?"
Me... "coz babe, she fell off her chair at work and had to have time off
to get better"
My lad:"So...if I fall off my chair at school...I can ask school to pay me
money?"
Me: "No poppet, because that's an accident..."
My lad: " But....Mummy??? Wasn't that an accident???"
Me:" yeah...it is but......."
My lad: " Shall I look the word up in the dictionary mummy?...Here it is it says " happens by chance, or No-one is to blame"

Simple...but true

Accident!

Apart from the obvious "90% of people are caused by accidents" I think it's a vastly over used word, most of the collisions and crashes on our roads are not unavoidable so can't be called accidents
In the case of the lady falling off her chair, did they breathalyse her
