Hi guys,

Does anyone have an opinion on whether to install side mushrooms to protect the fairing for low-sides on tracks?

Is it worth it? Are there any cons (vs. pros)?

How much would it approx. cost, how to install them and what type to install?

Biggest downside is having to cut holes in your fairings for them to come through.
- that and the fact that for the 748/9** range, they're about 3 times the price of any other bikes.

Having said that - I've used them previously on my old GSXR's, and they do the job well.

Am looking at some on eBay now, but will wait to see how much they go for.

Fitting seems straight-forward - with a connecting bar that goes through the frame (however, I think on my bike the alarm is right where the bar wants to go, so check before buying).

Forgot to say - my opinion above is purely based on what I've seen of the "R&G Racing" one's (not seen any others).

AND - in addition to that, there are now a variety of mushrooms that fit to the ends of you front-wheel spindle. Should protect the bottom of four forks in an "off".

Mine are on the way now - you should be able to pick a set up for around £30 or less.

The R&G ones only fitted the "old" fairing with the cut outs when I looked them this summer.

They also mounted on brackets then on the frame.

I have a set from www.cyclecat.com in the states, they sell through spareshack in the uk.

This set mount through the engine mounting bolt between the V of the engine which has to be a strong point, the down side is that you need to use a smaller battery although spareshack supplied me one at a good price.

Regard to cutting holes in the fairing I found another set of panels on ebay and will use them, once fitted you can leave the mounting bolts in place and remove the bungs therefore using your "best" fairing on the street and change to the "track" fairing with the bungs in a few minutes.
