Tax Disc Holder

Just bought a new tax disc holder for my 749 (Motrax one) but doesnt fit on the bolt that holds the existing one on. Does anyone have any suggestions, is it a abnormal size bolt so all other holders wont fit either?

I have a carbon lokalike version the one with loads of screws around the edge and piggy back the top bolt that hold the foot peg - i did not have any problems.

Carried mine in my pocket for years, that is until I was stopped in a police spot check. The officer was fine and it was more of a stop and advise rather than stop and prosecute. When he ran through the list of "issues on my bike" I thought I would try to reduce a few of them. My tax disc is now bolted to a M6 brass insert on the battery box that is not used. A slight bend in the holder and you can see the disc quite easily without it being stuck out, looking ugly and crying out to be nicked

If you look on the photos I sent you of the tailpack you can see mine hanging on the rear footpeg mount. That is a Motrax holder, which I prefer because it has a ring of allen head screws rather than a screw on cover.

You would get away with "it's in my pocket because it'll get nicked off the bike", unless the guy is a real "jobsworth" and is determined to nick you for something. I keep mine on the bike simply because the less reason I give them to stop me the less likely I am to get nicked for the loud cans or the radk visor! If they can see a tax disk then they know you are likely to be insured as well because you have to have that to get the tax?

ahhhh, cheers the advice all, I think Ive got the same kind (little allen bolts around it) so Ill stick it on the rear pegs as advised. Or could drill the thing out a bit to make it fit... hmmm...

Technically (happy to be corrected, those PCs on the board!), I beleive the tax disk is supposed to be on the left (so can be read from the pavement) and forward of the footpegs. On wifey's monnie it is on the headlight mounting, but I could not find anywhere on the 749 that was suitable. I would be very surprised (and immensely disappointed) if you were fingered for having a valid tax disk, but mounted in the wrong position on the bike!
