I am after a new set of 12 tooth aluminium clutch plates next week. Is there anywhere doing them at a good discounted price, as i am strapped for cash at the moment (ordering a complete new slipper did not help) . So far had a quote of about £115 , is this about right or do you know of a better deal.
Do you have the slipper fittted yet. Do you intend to fit the new plates to the slipper? I suggest that you fit carbon plates fron JHP, they are dearer but will pay back dividends by not eating your basket.
Waiting for the slipper , will have it this week. Are the plates made of carbon? i thought that the carbon clutch plates related to the friction material! Now i got more options to look into. What sort of money are the carbon plates? I have read that some people get fairly good longterm wear with aluminiun plates against the outer.
the carbon is the friction material they are then mounted on to a light alloy plate. cost £180 somewhere on the board there is talk off the S4 plates being the ones to go for ?
Thats what i thought. I had found loads of carbon ones on us ebay made by barnett with aluminium plates, but unfortunatly they wont ship worldwide. Shame considering the exchange rate.
I run ST4S plates in my slipper with no problems at all. They are about the £115 mark. You can get Bucci for about £140 and the surflex ones, the most common carbon faced plates, for about £160. Barnett plates are available from PDQ I think who distribute them in the UK. They are pretty pricey if I recall. I'd go for the ST4S if moneys tight. I've got about 8k on mine and I do use the slipper a lot
