Front fender Removal

I have just ordered the Corse stripe from Carbon Trader. Notice that I need to remove the front "fender" to be able to fit it properly. Tried this with the wheel in place and there does not seem to be any way of getting it round the forks. Is the only way to take out the front wheel and drop the "fender" out or is there some way to doing with with the wheel in place?

Had a go at fitting the strip with the fender still on the bike, but whilst I got the front looking perfect, it all went nasty when I couldn't get a proper grip around the forks. Fortunately I have enough tape left for another go !

Apparently, you can twist the fender out of place with the wheel still on, but when I tried it, I scratched it pretty bad! The only sure fire way is to remove the wheel...a pain I know, perhaps a design fault?

if its the standard fender you can manipulate it out ( i put a duster either side to stop scratching on either fork)
but you can do it...

if its a carbon etc you are looking discs and wheel removal...
